Last week NYC major Eric Adams was indicted on five federal charges, including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. This is quite serious and the first in New York history. And earlier this year, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez was found guilty on all counts in a bribery trial. So here we have two examples in a single year of left-wing elites facing major charges, with a strong possibility of serious prison time for either.
This is the opposite of what everyone was expecting. The usual narrative is that Trump was being targeted or persecuted, yet we see it’s left-wing elites under the gavel.
For the past 1-3 years on Twitter it was a foregone conclusion that Trump would eventually be arrested and or prevented from running. It seemed so obvious or inevitable, whether it was the August 8th 2022 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, the growing stack of various charges leveled against him, or the August 2023 Georgia booking and mugshot. On August 13th 2022 I boldly predicted Trump would not be arrested; two years later, sure enough, I was right again.
Here is why:
Trump is untouchable. To legally prevent him from running would lead to mass civil unrest–a worse outcome than him being reelected. Or it would lead to retaliatory blowout turnout of his replacement, ensuring a loss for Democrats, not just nationally but also state elections too.
From the post Trump Keeps Winning:
After the Mar-a-Lago raid many conservative pundits were certain Trump would be arrested and prevented from running in 2024, yet I was correct again in predicting nothing would happen. The left can try to make Trump’s personal life miserable by charging him with various crimes and trying to take his money away, but to actually prevent him from running could break the country apart, a view also shared by former Obama advisor David Axelrod , which is a bridge no one wants to cross.
It’s not illegal to disagree with the outcome of an election or to believe it was rigged. Or to avail oneself of legally permissible options. Most of the left’s Jan 6th claims against Trump try to argue that he broke the law, when technically he did not.
Trump has enough resources to delay trials for as long as possible, winning by attrition.
Trump, although sometimes appearing to cross the line into illegality, doesn’t actually cross it, or at least not as seriously as seen with the left.
Trump turns adversity into wins, such as raising money and getting media support. For the left, its the opposite: bad press leads to being thrown under.
Trump has no shortage of fall guys. Working with Trump entails a high legal risk. His supporters accept this risk either out of hope they will be promoted or out of loyalty.
Trump has enough wealth that he does not need to stoop to corruption.
Most of Trump’s charges are civil in nature or just not that serious despite the media hype and dire-sounding headlines.
The deep state does not exist or it’s not as powerful as commonly assumed. There was/is no conspiracy to prevent Trump from running.
Left-wing elites are also much worse at coordination than commonly assumed, and will throw their own under the bus for political expediency or to avoid bad press. Although party elites coordinating to compel Biden to drop out could be a counterexample to this, they did throw him under. Left-wing elites care more about their careers and social status than grandiose plans of domination or creating a single-party.
This is how I was also right about predicting that SBF would get a stiff sentence despite his donations and connections to Democratic causes. Being that his reputation was tarnished, there was nothing to gain by protecting him or showing favoritism, despite others on Twitter who were certain he would get a short sentence or not face justice at all.
